black people at their finest. this clip always makes me proud. proud of the acting, the singing, the fact that a movie that came out so many years ago and has a 99% black cast was nominated for Oscars and has done so well commercially.
you dont have to be religious for this scene to make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside...

Oooh...that scene gets me everytime. it almost makes me want to go to church tomorrow. I said almost. i got sleep to catch up on.
I LOVE that movie. Alway have, ever since I was about 15. Makes me teary every time I watch it. And, hell, there are even scenes you can put on your Daily Lesbian Moment. Its got EVERYTHING!
I fuckin' love this scene in the movie! (Maybe I shouldn't curse for the church scene, but what's done is done) Even if the movie skips over a bunch of stuff in the book it's still great.
Quoting scenes from it is a pasttime for sooo many black women I know, lesbian and straight.
